Evergreen Middle School runs a Robotics Club for all students grade 6-8. This is a competitive club that learns about robotics concepts and builds a robot to compete in the VEX IQ Global Challenge. Teams are composed of 4-6 students and at least one parent coach. We meet once a week for one hour and many students take their robotics kits home on the weekends to work on their robots. All robotics kits and parts are supplied by EMS.

If you would like to join Robotics Club you must follow this process:

  1. Form a team of 4-6 students (Club advisors do not form teams and they do not force students on to other teams)
  2. Find a parent/guardian willing to be your coach
  3. Come up with a team name
  4. Have your coach email jsteele@lwsd.org with the following:
    • Team Name
    • Coach Name
    • Student Names
    • Student LWSD email addresses
  5. Complete permission slip (file here)
  6. Bring permission slip to Mr. Steele and complete payment(s) online
  7. You will then be given a date and time to pick up your robotics kit!

All steps must be complete before our first meeting on September 25th. Because of the volume of students this will be a hard date, submissions after this date will not be accepted!

After the VEX IQ competitions are over we have an Evergreen only Sumo-Bots competition. Teams build a robot designed to push other robots off of a 3 foot diameter elevated platform.

For more information and to be added to our distribution list please email Club Advisor Mr. Steele at jsteele@lwsd.org
