Attendance

How to report a late arrival, early dismissal or full day absence including planned absence / Form for full day Planned Absence

“Live” or Synchronous Instruction Days:

On days where “live” or synchronous instruction is happening, teachers will take attendance based on who is participating in their Classroom Teams meeting. Students can show that they are present by turning their cameras on or indicating that they are there in the chat feature.

There may be some circumstances when a student can’t make a synchronous class time on a given day but is able to log into their Classroom Teams later that day and engage in the learning activities for that class. Under new state rules (WAC 392-401A), when teachers are provided evidence of student’s engaging in the learning activities for the day, they can also mark the student as being present.

Asynchronous Instruction Days:

On days where learning is asynchronous such as Wednesdays, students can demonstrate that they have attended by logging into their Classroom Teams and participating in the learning activities that their teacher has designed. It is important to note that while asynchronous work can be completed on different days, students are still expected to log in to Classroom Teams (or other platform as directed by their teacher) on Wednesday to show evidence of participation for that day.

Reporting Attendance

  • Parents/guardians should refer to the attendance email address EvergreenAttendance@lwsd.org for reporting all student attendance (absences, early dismissals, and late arrivals). The email address can be found by going on the Evergreen website home page and clicking the email link next to Attendance. Parents/guardians can also continue to report attendance on the absentee line at (425) 936-2321. Please report absences before 8:00 a.m. on or before the day of the absence. Students do not need to bring in a note to have an absence excused.

Arriving Late, Leaving Early or Returning to School

  • LATE ARRIVAL - Students must sign in through the main office when they arrive. A parent/guardian can either email the attendance office or call the absentee line at 425-936-2321 to report absences. Students do not need to bring in a note to have an absence excused. The school will determine if the late arrival is excused or unexcused based on the information given by the parent/guardian.
  • EARLY DISMISSAL – Parents/guardians must either email the attendance office on the day their student needs to be released early or call the absentee line at (425) 936-2321. Students do not need to bring in a note for early dismissal. The school will determine if the missed classes are excused or unexcused based on information given by the parent/guardian.
